Founder of Team WAVE, Skipper Val Doan - Val is from Nova Scotia Canada, holds a 200T and Instructor license and sailed 140,000 offshore delivery miles. She grew up cruising with her parents which led her to her life's work, beginning as 1st Mate on Tall Ship Rattlesnake. She has raced for the past 26 years on the Caribbean Circuit and around the World. She won the Navigators Award in our winning campaign of the Centennial Newport-Bermuda Race.

Main Traveler - Sarah Robinson hails from Nova Scotia and was raised in a racing family, crewing for Mom on her Roue 20, and for Dad on his Bluenose 24. She also spent a few seasons in the Caribbean racing and crewing. As a single Mom of a 5 yr old, she escapes when she can to join the gals.

Mast - Nichole Raab hails from Kansas City, and sails with Tall Ship Sloop Providence out of Newport, RI, and sailed down to the Caribbean on a number of occasions on various boats. Nichole is a Aerial Performance Artist who dangles from the halyards of the ships she is sailing. She has added sailing to her resume through her craft, and loves to race for fun in classic and modern divisions.

Jib Trimmer - Sherry Burger hails from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She holds a MCA 200 T YM with Commercial endorsement. She has been sailing all over the world on both offshore and Trans Atlantic passages. In between passage seasons she charters in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. She is based in the Virgin Islands in the winter and the Greek islands in the summer and has competed in the Caribbean circuit for a number of years.

Pit Trimmer - Lesley Mapstone hails from Perry Sound, Ontario and grew up on Georgian Bay messing about with boats. She came to the BVI when she was 16 to sail with Dad and is back again to do the same. She races Melges 24's and Dash 34 in Vancouver. She is a journalist and presenter for CTV in Canada.

Grinder - Vicky Zgardzinski comes from Bonnie Scotland, and joined Team WAVE in 2011. She was in the medical profession before becoming a world traveller new to sailing, who settled in BVI. She is our dive specialist.

Bow - French native Alexandra Fournier moved to the US in her twenties after successfully completing her Masters in International Business from La Sorbonne in Paris. She made a major lifestyle change after discovering sailing in the West Indies and has owned, sailed, chartered, repaired, cried and laughed on all kinds of boats. Lexie now lives in Ft. Grinder - Tasi Gottschlag hails from British Columbia and comes from sailing Grandparents. She got into racing 3 yrs ago in Vancouver on a Hanse 40 and Dash 34. She races religiously winter and summer in BC.

Sponsorship, Fundraising & Crew - Suzie, is a sea lover and an integral member of Team WAVE. As a long-term resident of the BVI she has been able to obtain sponsors whose donations we are able put back into her community via The Family Support Network of the BVI.

Mission & Crew - Anne joined Team WAVE in 2011 and stepped in this year to get the word out about our mission. A long-term resident of the BVI this is her first BVISR from a participant's perspective.
